Kōro or incense burner in the form of an ancient Chinese roof tile with a small spider on the side, which has caught the eye of a pigeon perched above. The roof tile of hammered iron, the incense well of hammered silver, the spider of shakudō inlaid in gold, the pigeon of hammered silver inlaid in  shakudō, red bronze, and gold. The pigeon signed with a chiseled signature on the underside of the tail feathers: Shōami, and the roof tile signed with an inlaid gold signature on the reverse: Katsuyoshi (Shoami Katsuyoshi, 1832 – 1908). Vase in a globe-form ornamented in relief with a design of two bats flying beneath the full moon. Of cast and patinated bronze. With the original, pierce-work rosewood stand carved with cloud motifs. Signed on the reverse with a chiseled signature by the artist: Joun, and with a kakihan (Ōshima Joun, the gō or art name of Ōshima Yasutarō, 1858 – 1940). Taishō era, circa 1912 – 1917. via
Tetsubin or tea pot of cast iron inlaid in silver with three flying swallows with gold eyes. With the tomobako or original box signed by the maker, Kinjudō. The bronze lid is surmounted by a silver lobe form knob and signed on the reverse, Kinjudō Saku or Made by Kinjudō. The handle is formed of hammered copper folded and pinned with silver staples. Meiji Era, late 19th century. Kinjudō was perhaps the most famous metal house in Kyōto specializing in tetsubin. The technique of chiseling and inlaying the silver sparrows was developed by sword makers and required great skill. A lyrical design. 20.5 cm high x 16.5 cm x 15 cm. http://www.kagedo.com
