The Byzantine Institute of America (BIA) worked in Hagia Sophia from 1931 to 1964. The dates associated with the photographs in the BIA’s Conservation of Hagia Sophia mosaics collection range from 1932 to 1964. It is unknown whether these dates refer to when the photograph was taken or when it was printed. / / After 1962, the BIA’s work was taken over by Dumbarton Oaks.
