Art is a journey into the most unknown thing of all - oneself. Nobody knows his own frontiers… I don’t think I’d ever want to take a road if I knew where it led.

Louis Kahan

pixandum:

There are many things which evoke feelings, recollections and memories.  An object, a taste, a song, an image… sometimes a single note of a musical passage.  All have brought to mind specifically, and clearly a person, place, emotion, etc. Personally, while all of these are powerful cues to things gone by, I have always found scent to be the strongest.  There are so many scents buried in my mind, each having a particular time and place associated with it.  So why the mindless patter?  This morning as I left my house for work I was immediately greeted by the wondrous smell of humidity… not strong, I live in Los Angeles, it’s not a common scent… but it was distinct.  And as soon as it wafted through the air, into my senses I was transported to the 1st 1/2 of my life, growing up in NY.  That unmistakable smell of…. it wants to rain but it won’t.   If you made it this far… here’s the payoff (in as much as there will be a payoff ;) That means… there are clouds in L.A.  so…. pardon the cloud porn, but damn… it’s a dream, and it smells good out here!
